Smallpox was one of the most deadly and feared diseases. one in three of those who contracted the disease died. even those who survived were usually very badly disfigured. some even lost their eye sight.
Thanks to the discovery of vaccine by edward jenner, the world health organisation could clear smallpox as eradicated disease throught the world in the year 1979.edward jenner was born at berkeley,gloucestershire on the 17th may 1749. his father the rev. stephen jenner was a big landlord. he died when jenner was only only six years old.
